What Captions.ai is built for
It is a mobile-first video app with AI folded into the editing pass: cutting, subtitles, eye contact correction, tidying up a take. The centre of the workflow is footage that exists, usually yours, and the value is how much faster the edit gets.
Their AI actor work has widened that, but the product's shape still reflects its origin. It is an editor with generation attached, and it is genuinely good at the editing half.
Where the two part company
HexUGC never assumes footage. There is no take to fix, because there was no camera. You describe a person, the system builds them, and you generate scenes of them talking.

Neither is better in the abstract. If you like being on camera and your bottleneck is edit time, an editor is the right buy and a generator is a detour.
What you get instead: a character, not a project
The unit HexUGC persists is the influencer. You design one once as a full character sheet, front, sides and back, head to toe, and every still and scene afterwards is anchored to that sheet. Worth disambiguating, since it causes confusion in searches. Burned-in word-synced captions are a feature here, not a product. They come out of the composition step automatically on every video. If subtitles were the whole reason you were shopping, you do not need to switch tools at all, and several cheaper options do only that.
